The Vision Correction Practice of Dr. H. Kell Yang
Dr. Yang is a native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and has been serving the mid-Missouri area as a board-certified ophthalmologist for over 25 years. His specialties include cataract and refractive surgery. Since 1980, Dr. Yang has performed thousands of small-incision cataract surgeries (phacoemulsification). He first performed refractive surgery in the early 1990s and LASIK when it gained FDA approval, and he has since performed thousands of vision correction procedures. At our practice in Columbia, Missouri, patients benefit from Dr. Yang's extensive medical training and personal approach to vision correction.
H. Kell Yang, M.D.
In 1972, Dr. Yang earned his A.B. at the University of Pennsylvania, followed by medical school at New York Medical College. After an internship at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, he completed a residency at the University of Maryland and a fellowship under the tutelage of Oram Kline, Jr., M.D., at the prestigious Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia.
Dr. Yang is a Diplomate of the American Board of Medical Examiners and the American Board of Ophthalmology.
He has authored the textbook Posterior Chamber Lens Implant Surgery and Numerous scientific articles in journals, including the American Journal of Ophthalmology and the Archives of Ophthalmology.
His LASIK-specific training includes work at Baylor University and VISX training in Cleveland, OH.
He serves as a clinical assistant professor of ophthalmology at the University of Missouri-Columbia.
He routinely participates in continuing education through the American Board of Ophthalmology and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.

Arlene Kalaf, our office manager, is from mid-Missouri and has worked for Dr. Yang for 22 years. She is a Columbia resident.
Rege Elliott, L.P.N., has worked for 18 years as a nurse for Dr. Yang. Originally from Iowa, she currently lives in nearby Hallsville.
Kathy Gilman, L.P.N., a mid-Missouri native, has worked with Dr. Yang for 16 years and currently resides in Auxvasse.
Tracy McCumber, our LASIK coordinator, is a resident of Columbia. Originally from St. Louis, Tracy joined our practice 13 years ago.
Patty Dow, our receptionist and insurance specialist, hails from Eastern Missouri and came to work for Dr. Yang in 1995.
Missy Davis, L.P.N., is the most recent addition to our staff and has worked for Dr. Yang as a nurse for almost three years. A current resident of Columbia, Missy is originally from Southern Missouri.

Free Evaluations and Testing
All patients receive pachymeter (cornea thickness) and topography (eye map) testing. If more than one evaluation is necessary, there is no extra charge. We want to make sure your eyes are in perfect shape before your procedure.
Safe Procedural Environment
Dr. Yang offers the best possible surgical environment. A nurse is assigned to the procedure room to simply monitor humidity and sterility of instruments. We don't take risks with your vision.
